Traveler’s Notebook: Gardener’s Notebook Entry No. 01

Hi guys! Here’s hoping you had a refreshing long weekend and are ready to get some creative stuff done! I am on vacation this week but promised to bring you two videos from my Traveler’s Notebook, so have a look!

So if you were able to watch on Friday, you learned that I have just begun my scrapbooking journey with Traveler’s Notebooks! So to get my feet wet I though I would start with the insert that came in my Webster’s Pages Color Crush Notebook.

I gathered the products that were in my May Gossamer Blue kits and dove right in. First up was to embellish the cover somehow, so I chose some Gelatos and the flowers from My Mind’s Eye Hello Gorgeous! I also stapled two of the word strips from Simple Stories on top.

So the first set of pictures I want to work with in my Gardener’s Notebook are from 2015, which is the first year I really did anything in our flower beds since creating them in 2014. Our house was built in 2014 and we participated in Sweat Equity, which is a program designed to allow home owners to do some of the work in the construction of their home. For us, that meant doing all the painting and landscaping. So we got to decide where our flower beds and the tree in the front yard would be. In 2015 I began adding some blooming flowers and some perennials to fill in. My first photo in the notebook needed to be of the house itself.

I began with a little bit of color using my Gelatos, and then layered photo + embellishments on top.

My hope is to include both 2015 and 2016 in this notebook, so I added a tab to identify 2015 in this portion. The book is starting to get thick, so I may only be able to include 2015 in this one (!) and if that is the case then I will just add a similar tab to each one that I create over the years.

My goal is for these notebooks to become a reference tool of sorts, to help me remember which flowers I have tried and have had success with. I’ve never been a gardener before so I admit I don’t know what I am doing, but I love doing this and I am excited about documenting this journey in these books!

Ok, I will see you back here on Thursday for more in this notebook!
